A visit to Egypt isn’t complete without visiting the great ‘city of Cairo’.
The Egyptian museum has over 150,000 artifacts on display from Ancient Egypt, the tour starts with the pre-dynastic period, proceeding to the statues if princes & nobles of the time. Next middle kingdom & on to the new kingdom. The days of the great Pharaohs, Hasheput, Thutmosis III & of course the famous Tutankhamen & his extravagant royal burial treasures. You can also visit the mummy’s hall (optional 100 EGP). At the font entrance of the museum is a pond containing the blue lotus flower that adorns most pharaoh’s art. After have lunch in a local restaurant by the Nile River, have the opportunity for a feluca ride down the Nile at an extra cost.
Giza necropolis – Pyramids & Sphinx
The Giza Necropolis is an archaeological site on the Giza Plateau, on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. This complex of ancient monuments includes the three pyramid complexes known as the Great Pyramids, The pyramids epitomize ancient Egypt, see the great pyramid of Cheops, the oldest & largest of the pyramids, the pyramid of Chephren & the Queens pyramid; and the massive oldest known monumental sculpture the Great Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers’ village and an industrial complex. It is located some 9 km inland into the desert from the old town of Giza on the Nile, some 25 km southwest of Cairo city centre. The pyramids, which have historically loomed large as emblems of ancient Egypt in the Western imagination, were popularised in Hellenistic times, when the Great Pyramid was listed by Antipater of Sidon as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is by far the oldest of the ancient Wonders and the only one still in existence.
During the day you will have a great opportunity for shopping in the area around Pyramids (Papyrus museum, perfume factory etc.).
Drive to Cairo Airport, fly back to Sharm el Sheikh Airport and drive back to your hotel. It is necessary to have a passport with Egyptian Visa, money, water & snacks, suitable footwear & Modest clothing. For men no short shorts or vest tops, women best cover knees & shoulders.
